Dunhuang is located at the westernmost end of the Hexi Corridor and is a famous city and important town on the ancient Silk Road. In history, it was the only passage from the Central Plains to the Western Regions and even Europe. It was the confluence of the four ancient civilizations of China, India, Greece, and Islam, and also a major stage for the gathering and distribution of ethnic groups in the Western Regions, full of exotic customs and ancient legends.
The Mogao Caves, shrouded in dust in history, are known as "art museums in the desert" and "spiritual oases of art and faith", and are the biggest reason for the vast majority of travelers to visit Dunhuang. Mogao Grottoes is the largest and most abundant Buddhist art site in the world, known for its profound history, splendid culture, extremely high artistic achievements, and devout faith. It is known as a place that must be visited once in a lifetime.
