A hot destination on Hainan Island with exotic tropical landscape
Haikou Travel Guide
Haikou is the capital of Hainan Province and was once selected as a charming city with Chinese characteristics. Although it is not as famous as Sanya, it is not as noisy as Sanya, but the romantic feelings of the island have not diminished at all. Haikou's long beach is bordered by the endless Qiongzhou Strait, where sailing boats often appear. The ancient volcanoes are covered with coral-like lava flows, solidifying the ancient time here, making it quiet and comfortable. The moist sea breeze is slightly cool, but the fragrance of flowers is clear, and occasionally there are songs of birds. Find a place to sit down at Dad’s Tea Shop, where the business is booming, and have a rest and chat with the enthusiastic grandma. Vendors in twos and threes on the street carry burdens to sell, and the burdens are almost all Hainan's local specialty fruits, such as mangosteen, egg fruit, and lotus root. It is best to stroll along the old arcade street alone at dusk, from Jiefang West Road to Boai Road, and from Deshengsha to Zhongshan Road. The motorcycle lights are on, the wrinkles on the old buildings are blurred, and the balconies and windows with the bougainvillea trees are illuminated with warmth. Tricycles make tinkling bells around the corner, beautiful shops shine with seductive light and shadow, and the inferior speakers in CD shops play sad 80s love songs in turn. This is the quiet, comfortable, retro and nostalgic Haikou, the dreamy Coconut City.
