The Jinshanling Great Wall is located at the junction of Luanping County, Chengde City, and Miyun County, Beijing City, about 130 kilometers away from downtown Beijing. It is a section of the Great Wall that was personally presided over by Qi Jiguang, a famous anti-Japanese general in the Ming Dynasty. This section of the Great Wall is built on the mountains and winds. Once you climb the Great Wall, you will have a very broad and spectacular view. It is the most beautiful and majestic section of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty. Moreover, the Jinshanling Great Wall has not yet been rebuilt. Compared with the Great Wall in other parts of Beijing, it still maintains its original appearance better and has a simple and pure feeling. There are not many tourists here, and it is quiet and comfortable when visiting. It is an excellent choice for visiting the Great Wall in the suburbs of Beijing.
The entire Jinshanling Great Wall is about 10.5 kilometers long, and the tourist area in the scenic spot is about 5-6 kilometers. The Great Wall is located on the ridgeline on the south side of the scenic area, running east-west. Corresponding to it on the north side of the Great Wall is an approximately parallel road, and the starting point on the east side of the road is the entrance to the scenic spot.
On the road, there are three forks leading to the Great Wall at the top of the mountain. They are the Hanlong Ditch near the entrance of the scenic spot, the Shaling Ditch in the middle of the road and the deepest brick entrance at the end of the road. It takes an hour to climb up the Great Wall at each entrance. Around, it requires a certain amount of physical strength. There is a ropeway at Hanlonggou. It only takes 20 minutes to take the ropeway up the mountain. It costs 40 yuan for one way and 80 yuan for a round trip. Those who are not physically fit can choose to take it. It takes about half a day to visit the entire scenic spot. If you come from Beijing city, you need to prepare for about a day.
Regular tourists here will choose to take the cableway from the side of Hanlong Valley to the Great Wall at the top of the mountain, travel from east to west, then come down from the west side, and then return to the gate of the scenic spot along the road. If you want to challenge your physical strength and walk the whole distance, it is recommended to go up the mountain from the Zhuanduokou point and visit the Great Wall from west to east. In this way, the scenery will gradually become more exciting. Moreover, the east end of the Great Wall is connected to the Simatai Great Wall Scenic Area. If you follow this route, you can directly buy a ticket to visit the Simatai Great Wall after seeing the Jinshanling Great Wall, and visit the two scenic spots together.
The main attraction of this section of the Great Wall is its winding and precipitous movement. The views on both sides are very broad and spectacular. It is very suitable for photography. The background of CCTV's advertisement advocating civility was also shot here.
The easternmost section of the Great Wall is called the Great Wall with Character Bricks. Seventy percent of the city bricks are engraved with characters, recording the manufacturing unit and time of the city bricks. It is very unique and precious, so you can take a closer look. In addition, this section of the Great Wall has not undergone excessive reconstruction, so it is still relatively simple. Here you can also see the most authentic appearance of the Great Wall.
In recent years, it has become more popular to shoot sunrise and sunset at the Jinshanling Great Wall. Photography enthusiasts can consider staying nearby for one night to take photos. There are several farmhouses at the entrance of the scenic spot. The price of a standard room is about 100 yuan, and you can have meals at the same time. There are many hotels available for accommodation in Simatai New Village, 4-5 kilometers south of the scenic area, and the standard hotel room costs about 200 yuan.
