Zhari Namco is the third largest lake in Tibet Autonomous Region, also known as Tarecco. It is located in the southern part of the northern Tibetan Plateau, in the territory of Coqen County, Ngari Prefecture, and is an east-west tectonic fault lake. It covers an area of 1,023 square kilometers, with a lake surface elevation of 4,613 meters. It is a large lake that is nearly 54 kilometers long from east to west and about 20 kilometers wide from north to south. Zhari Namco is a wide lake, with beautiful sunshine in the warm season, distant mountains like dark blue, and fragrant grass around the lake. It is a good pasture and rich in precious purple cashmere goats. There are groups of Tibetan antelopes, wild donkeys and other wild animals along the lake, running on the lakeside wilderness. Because Zhari Namco is a long-closed inland lake, the mineralization of the lake water has reached 13.9 grams/liter. It is a saltwater lake with blue water and good transparency, but few aquatic organisms. Only in the shallow water area where the Coqen Zangbu River merges into the lake in the northwest of the lake body do dense aquatic plants and algae grow, attracting flocks of waterfowl for food. After the water level in the southern part of the lake receded, three small lakes remained. The salt content of the lake water is just right for the growth of an arthropod called Artemia, which is a high-quality feed for artificially raised fish, crabs, and shrimps. Around the lakeshore, circles and layers of ancient lakeshores are clearly visible, witnessing the life trajectory of the lake body shrinking due to the warming and drying of the climate. The higher ancient lakeshore is about 100 meters higher than the current lake surface, and there are even remains of the ancient lakeshore on the mountain 64 kilometers away from Coqen Zangbo. It includes some small lakes around it, and the ancient lake surface at that time was 2-3 times larger. Just between Munuo Peak and the foothills on the north side of the lake, there is a closed small salt lake with an area of about 12 square kilometers. Because it is isolated from the big lake and has basically no water supply, the remaining salt lake is 63 meters below the surface of Zha Ri Namu Co Lake, shaped like a large funnel.
