The Three Gorges of the Yangtze River starts from Baidi City, Fengjie County, Chongqing City in the west, and ends at Nanjinguan, Yichang City, Hubei Province in the east. It is 193 kilometers long. Along the way, there are steep peaks and cliffs on both sides of the river. From west to east, they are Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, and Xiling Gorge.

On February 19, 2018, the ship locks on the southern line of the Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze River started to implement a 33-day shutdown for maintenance until 8:00 on March 24. The ship locks on the north line of the Three Gorges Project will operate in a one-way pass and timed reversal mode.
