Songyang Academy is located to the north of Dengfeng City. It is named because it is located in the Yang (south) of Songshan Mountain. It is backed by Suoji Peak, the main peak of Songshan Mountain, and faces the gurgling Shuangxi River. It is surrounded by peaks on both sides. Inside and outside the academy, there are towering ancient cypresses, plums, willows, pine, bamboo, ginkgo, etc., all green. Songyang Academy, formerly known as Songyang Temple, was founded in the eighth year of Taihe (484 AD) by Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. It was a Buddhist site and was changed to a Taoist site during the reign of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty.
