Xuankong Temple, also known as Xuankong Temple, is the only unique temple in China that combines Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Hengshan Xuankong Temple was built more than 1,400 years ago in the late Northern Wei Dynasty. The Xuankong Temple has been repaired by successive dynasties. The Northern Wei Dynasty moved the Taoist altar from Pingcheng, today's Datong, to the south. Ancient craftsmen followed the Taoist saying "Don't hear the crowing of cocks and the barking of dogs." The Hanging Temple was built at the request of "The Voice of China", which is a representative embodiment of ancient Chinese architecture. The scenic Xuankong Temple is the only existing unique temple in China that combines Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. It is built among the cliffs of Cuiping Peak on the west side of Jinlong Gorge in Hengshan Mountain. It faces Hengshan Mountain, leans on Cuiping Peak at the back, is surrounded by dangerous rocks, faces a deep valley below, has suspended pavilions and has an ingenious structure. There are a total of forty pavilions in the Hanging Temple. It uses the principle of mechanics to form a half-inserted flying beam, and cleverly uses rocks to support it. The beams and columns are integrated up and down, and the corridors are connected to the left and right. The twists and turns are surprising, and the virtual and the real are intertwined. There are more than 80 bronze, iron, stone and clay Buddha statues in the temple. The two characters "spectacular" on the rock under the temple are the calligraphy of Li Bai, the poet of the Tang Dynasty. The ancients said: "The mirage is suspicious of the sea, and the bird path is invisible in the clouds." Xu Xiake, a great traveler in the Ming Dynasty, praised it as "the most spectacular sight in the world". History and Culture The Hanging Temple is not only famous for its thrilling and ingenious architecture, but also its unique "three religions in one" religious and cultural connotation. In the ever-increasing wars, it has been preserved intact for more than 1,500 years, which is a miracle among miracles. Precisely because the three religions of Xuankong Temple are integrated into one, rulers of all dynasties have protected it. On the stone wall of His Majesty Thousand-Hand Guanyin in Xuankong Temple are embedded two stone tablets from the Jin Dynasty, which have a history of more than 800 years.
