It is a national scenic spot at the foot of Purple Mountain. It is the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in the south of the Yangtze River in contemporary times, and one of the three famous lakes in the south of the Yangtze River. It is an inner-city park and is known as the "Pearl of Jinling". Many literati and poets have left their poems here, such as Xiao Tong, Li Yu, Wei Zhuang, Du Mu, Liu Yuxi, Li Shangyin, Li Bai, Ouyang Xiu, Wang Anshi, Cao Xueqin, Guo Moruo, etc. Xuanwu Lake is located in the center of Nanjing, surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the city on one side. Zhongshan stands in the east of the lake, and the ancient city borders the southwest. Fugui, Fuzhou, and Jilong Mountains line the south. The beautiful peaks and towers shine across the city. Chaoyang and Mufu Mountains stretch across Hubei, surrounded by mountain cities, and there are many scenic spots and historic sites along the lake. In the main urban area of ​​Nanjing, Houhu, also known as Lianhu, has been a resort since the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It was a place where martial arts lectures were held in the Southern Dynasties. There are ten scenic spots around the lake. After the Song Dynasty, it was abandoned as fields.
