Kubuqi Desert is the seventh largest desert in China and the desert closest to Beijing. The west, north and east sides are all bounded by the Yellow River. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north. It is located in parts of Hangjin Banner, Dalat Banner and Jungar Banner of Yike Zhaomeng in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Kubuqi Desert is the seventh largest desert in China and the desert closest to Beijing. The west, north and east sides are all bounded by the Yellow River. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north. It is located in parts of Hangjin Banner, Dalat Banner and Jungar Banner of Yike Zhaomeng in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The southern part is a structural platform, the central part is aeolian sand dunes, and the northern part is floodplain. The total area is about 1.45 million hectares, of which mobile sand dunes account for about 61%. It is 400 kilometers long and 50 kilometers wide. The dunes are 10-60 meters high, lying like a yellow dragon. In the northern part of the Ordos Plateau, it spans the Three Banners of Inner Mongolia. The main forms are dune chains and grid-like dunes. The tourist attraction Xiangshawan is located in the Dala Banner of Yike Zhao League in Inner Mongolia, in the northeast of the Kubuqi Desert. It has the magical Xiangsha Bay, which is a masterpiece of nature.
