The Tiantishan Grottoes, also known as the Liangzhou Grottoes and commonly known as the Great Buddha Temple, are located in Dengshan Village, Zhangyi Town, about 50 kilometers south of Liangzhou District, Wuwei City. They were first built in Beiliang during the Sixteenth Kingdom of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and have a history of more than 1,600 years. Tianti Mountain has majestic peaks, rugged roads, and difficult climbs. It looks like a hanging ladder, so it is named Tianti Mountain. The top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round. It is one of the eight scenic spots in ancient Liangzhou, "Tianti Snow". Among them, the statue of Sakyamuni, the main figure in Cave 13, is about 28 meters high and 10 meters wide. He sits against the mountain and faces the water, with his right arm stretched forward, blue waves rippling under his feet, and thin clouds wrapping around his body, forming a picture of mountains, The spectacular scenery of water, Buddha and clouds is a famous tourist attraction in Liangzhou. It is now a national key cultural relic protection unit, a national water conservancy scenic spot, and a national AAA tourist attraction. The Tiantishan Grottoes are an outstanding representative of early Chinese grotto art. Its excavation served as a demonstration and enlightenment for the excavation of grottoes in surrounding or further areas at the same time, forming the famous "Liangzhou Model" in the history of Chinese Buddhist grotto art. The Tiantishan Grottoes attract experts, scholars and tourists from home and abroad for their unique lake and mountain scenery and ancient Buddhist culture and art.
