Yuelu Academy is an ancient Han academy building and one of the four famous academies in Chinese history. Located at the east foot of Yuelu Mountain in the Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha City, Hunan Province. In 1988, the Yuelu Academy building complex was approved by the State Council as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Yuelu Academy is an ancient Han academy building and one of the four famous academies in Chinese history. Located at the east foot of Yuelu Mountain in the Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha City, Hunan Province. In 1988, the Yuelu Academy building complex was approved by the State Council as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Yuelu Mountain has been a famous cultural mountain since ancient times. Before the Western Jin Dynasty, it was a place for Taoist activities, and there were Wanshou Palace, Chongzhen Temple, etc. built there. Lushan Temple was founded in the fourth year of Taishi (268), Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty, and it is still well preserved today. Tao Kan of the Eastern Jin Dynasty once built Shan'an to study here. Daolin Temple was built in the Six Dynasties. In the Tang Dynasty, Ma Sui built the "Daolin Jingshe". In the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, two monks, including Zhixuan, "cut off land and built houses" under the Lushan Temple in order to "follow the path of Confucianists" and built a school "for lay people". Yuelu Academy was based on Zhi's schooling and "inherited and expanded" " was born.
