Nanchan Temple is located in the south corner of Wuxi, on the bank of the ancient canal. It is one of the 480 temples in the Southern Dynasties dating back 1,450 years. It was built in the Taiqing period of Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty and is of large scale. Miaoguang Pagoda is located on the east side of the temple, 43.3 meters high. It was first built during the Yongxi period of the Northern Song Dynasty, more than a thousand years ago. The ancient pagoda is of seven-level and eight-sided attic style, with copper bells hanging from the corners of the eaves. It has the reputation of "it is said that the golden bell rings for ten miles, and the jade dragon flies down after half a day", and is one of the eight scenic spots in Wuxi. After the reform and opening up, the city built a comprehensive cultural market of more than 120,000 square meters - Nanzen Temple Cultural Mall. The northern part of the mall is a complex of imitation Ming and Qing style buildings, and the southern part is an imitation Song style ancient building. Miaoguang Street in the mall has been named Wuxi Tourism Street by the Wuxi Municipal Government and is a 4A-level tourist attraction.
